Cabelas Outdoor Recreation is considered to be North America’s premier outdoor and conservation company. It was founded in 1961 by Dick Cabela with his wife, Mary. Since then, the outdoor retailer quickly flourished with locations throughout the U.S. and Canada. Providing unique shopping experiences for outdoor enthusiasts and their families. The Cabelas location in Reno, NV, was built in 2007, and is 150,000 sq. ft. It is one of the largest locations for the destination retail store. We had the privilege of working on their 43,500 sq. ft. roof and used a 22-gauge metal roof, which is the thickest metal roofing material. This will provide more protection against the elements, including high winds and severe weather conditions.

Sparks Tower @ Legends

Built in 2009, the Legends at Sparks Marina is a 140-acre entertainment development complete with a shopping center and entertainment district. The core feature is a 125-foot tall tower surrounded by outdoor performance areas, living room spaces with fireplaces, and multiple fountains and sculptures honoring the legends of Nevada.

We were thrilled when we were called to do the roof for the iconic Sparks Tower and its surrounding buildings. For this project, we used several roofing materials, including Monier clay tile, which are crafted by Australians using raw materials from the land. We also used Firestone’s standing seam metal roofing, which is lightweight, low maintenance, fire retardant, and has a long life expectancy. This durable metal roof also provides architectural beauty.  We also used GAF mechanically attached thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO), which is a single-ply roofing membrane that provides exceptional performance, including long-term heat, UV, and natural fungal resistance. We also used aluminum composite wall panels, which are known for their flexibility, durability, and versatility, as well as their clean and modern look. And of course, we also utilized alpine snow guards for Reno’s winter weather conditions.

Reno-Stead Airport

Built in 1942 as the Reno Army Airport and air base built by the Army Air Corps. It was renamed Stead Army Airbase in honor of Croston Stead. Then in 1963, the airbase was set to close – along with 25 other military bases throughout the United States. Instead of closing, it was transferred to the City of Reno in June 1966. At that point, it began operating as Reno-Stead Aiport. For this project, we utilized aluminum composite material (ACM) panels. These are made of two thin sheets of aluminum held together with a fire-resistant composite core. We also used metal siding throughout portions of the building.
